Exercising in the heat? Here's what to eat...

It's really hot out and training in the heat will make your body work harder.  Here's a quick tip to keep you on track.  Proper nutrition prior to your workout will fuel your body and allow you to still train at a high level.

To have enough energy and maintain hydration be sure to intake adequate foods like these:

Choose complex carbohydrates (sweet potatoes, soy beans, apple & yogurt) along with those rich in water content, to provide slow burning energy and hydration.  Fresh fruits and vegetables, such as oranges, melons, tomatoes and cucumbers, are good sources of fluid-filled carbohydrates.

Try preparing a pre-workout Summer salad with edamame, apples, celery, orange slices etc. (add quinoa for protein)  Also be sure to replenish fluids often during your workout.
